Question about college financial aid for student living on own due to special circumstances?

If a 20 yr. old college student is already receiving financial aid for college tuition, but is now going to be living on their own due to abusive home life, are they eligible for any additional aid for living expenses? They are full-time student, working part-time. Thanks!

not sure, but he may have to prove he’s living on his own with a utility bill or something. reapply at the school’s Financial Aid office.
this happened to me when I was in college – not the abusive homelife part, but I started living on my own and was then eligible for work-study, when I wasn’t eligible before.

For financial aid or scholarship questions, I just tell my friends to visit http://www.FinancialAidQuick.com and take a look around. Its good starting point with a few great sources of info.

Contact the Social Security department, they often will give them subsidised rent and it shouldn’t interfer with the other financial aid :)
