Is it true that some police agencies will partly reimburse you for your college loans?

I read some where, I cannot remember where, that some police agencies will actually help you pay back your Student Loans for college. I was wondering if this was true or not.

I’ve heard of tuition assistance for continuing your education after you are hired, but I’m not aware of any agencies that reimburse you for past expenses.

Oregon has the Police Cadet Program. A department sponsors you, and a collective police department fund pays your way through college, including living expenses and books.

During summer breaks, you attend the Oregon Police Academy to have your Board of Police Standards and Training certification completed.

After college, you work for the sponsoring police dept. for 4 yrs. to pay back the money spent on your education. You get full salary and benefits during this time.

If you quit before 4 yrs, or don’t work for the sponsoring dept. you have to pay back the college cost plus interest.
